I am looking for any information about my ancestor and his family. What I know: James ANSBERRY b c 1795 in Ireland, his wife, Bridget TOLEN, b c 1808 in Ireland, children: Thomas b c 1832 in Ireland, Mary b 3 Aug 1833 in Ireland, Edwatd b 30 Aug 1840 in Ireland and a baby born and died 1847, not sure where. They arrived in the USA from Liverpool, England on 11 May 1847 at New Orleans, LA on the ship Sarah & Louisa. They made their way to Defiance, Ohio where they purchased land. Family stories say James was born in County Clare while Bridget in County Cork. Marriage was before 1832 location unknown. One must be flexible on the surname spelling. It was spelled ANSBOURE according to ships passenger registry. Also we have seen Bridget's name spelled TOLAN. Any help would be highly appreciated! We have been looking for over 50 years for this information! Thanks!

Hi Eric,
As the children were born in the 1830's we have the Tithe records for land Taxes/Rents .
Searching Ans* and Jas* were have a Jas ANSBROW in Rush Hill, Manulla, County Mayo. These records are from 1823 to 1837

This may be your James.
You said he sailed from Liverpool to the USA. The ship would have left Liverpool and either gone to Dublin, Cork, Galway or Westport in Mayo.
The ships picked up and dropped off on the way.
Looking through all the other Ireland lists, looks like Ansbrow, Ansborow and Ansbrow. 1901 and 1911 still in Mayo and other counties.
I just checked the map, Manulla is East of Westport.

Hi Eric, Went to another site, I saw Edward born 1840 it was Mayo.
