Click on each parish and it will tell you when the records begin and where copies are held. Most RC records are on the nli site and also Ancestry.

If you have tried PRONI and Ancestry without success, then the possibilities are:

1. The baptism is/was on a page that is illegible or lost
2. The baptism is hard to read and either hasn’t been transcribed or has been mistranscribed
3. The child wasn’t baptised (rare with RC births but not unknown)
4. The priest forgot to record the baptism.
5. The baptism was in a parish with no records for 1851 (Limavady, for example, has no records before 1855).

Thank you for your interest, we have collectively as a family. Searching for this information, considered all of your observations over the years. They are indeed all a possability, we thought that getting a DNA test , would broaden the possibility of throwing up info on other decendants  in the area. Or with even greater luck, that some other researcher would have some knowledge. In relation to any  of this . Thank you once again for your help I this.

Hi Elwyn, thank you so much for your interest, we have over the years considered all of you above comments as to why we could not locate a baptismal record, given the amount of research we did. Of course, all are a possibility, but I have lodged this message in the hope that it may open up a new line of research that we had not considered previously. The information in relation to areas or catholic churches in the area, that would still be covered by the larger area of Magherafelt was very helpful.
