Can anyone tell me which graveyards served the Catholic population in Castletownshend from 1840 to 1900 and will there be any parish records of burials?
Many thanks, Kathryn Knight (nee Daly)

Hello Kathryn,
Welcome to IrelandXO, I live in East Cork down by Youghal however, I read your query with interest. Did a lookup of Castletownsend and found out the following:
Castletownsend and Skibbereen would not be too far from each other - approx 6 miles.Skibbereen Heritage Centre has a lovely website - here is the link: http://www.graveyards.skibbheritage.com/
They also have a Facebook page and are extremly helpful.
if you have a death date, I have a sub for newspaperarchives and would be only too happy to look it up for you - would need their name and address if known along with the death date.
Do let me know how you got on. Good luck with your research.

Hi Kathryn,
My name is Frank Fahy and I am the Volunteer researcher for the West Cork area generally but most familiar with Skibbereen, Rath &The Islands Parishes for whom I transcribed the Church Records from 1814 to 1920.
As Castlehaven is less than four miles from me I am also familiar with their records but find them amongst the most confusing & erroneous I have researched. If you give me an indication of the information you are looking for, I will be happy to help if I can. I would prefer if you send the info direct to my email address, frankfahy054@gmail.com as I find that posting to this site makes it slower to scroll through answers from other people rather than just searching my emails which I do several times a day.
Best wishes to you.

Many thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I do not have a death date, only a possible birth date of 1817. I am researching my great, great, great grandfather, Eugene Daly. He was a carpenter in Castletownshend. His son, Michael John Daly, born in 1842, left Castletownshend when he joined the Navy in 1860. My research has come to a dead end and I'm trying to find ways to find something out about Eugene Daly and any other family. Thankyou for your help, Kathryn
