Dear greatkate:
Thank you for your post to the message board. You will find that the Clare Library has a lot of very good online resources that may assist you with your research.
Firstly, the Hargrove surname was located in various parts of County Clare including: Kilfinaghta (in the Tithe Applotment Books) as well as in Clonlea. There were variants to the name as well includingHardgrove/Hardgrave. I would recommend that you view the parish registers for Kilfinaghta (which date back to 1828) and the Clonlea parish registers (which date back to 1834) to see what you may find. The link for both civil parishes are below and you will note that on each page, there are a number of other resources that you can look at.
Kilfinaghta: This parish's Catholic name is Sixmilebridge. The link to the parish is here: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilfinaghty.htm
Clonlea: This parish includes the catholic parishes of Kilkishen, Oatfield and O'Callaghan's Mills. The link to the parish is here: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/clonleigh.htm
Please feel free to reply to this thread if you have any further questions.
All the best,
Jane

Hi Jane
I have found some Hargroves in Sixmilebridge baptisms which sounds like George Hargrove is him as Bridget Coghlan is the wifes name I have. Names can be tricky I know as quite often they were Illiterate. Thank you so much for that clue. I will keep looking now hopefully in the right direction.
Kathryn McSwan.
