Hello!

In researching my family's genealogy, I found that my father's grandmother was born around 1872 in County Kerry and later moved to Liverpool, England. Her name was Mary Ann Hartnett. The town in the 1911 English census lists her place of birth as "Heensherryness, County Kerry." I cannot find any other reference to this town, and I'm wondering if it is a mistake in transcription. Does anyone know of this town in Kerry, or a town that would have a similar spelling?

    Thanks for your reply. Her married name is Lee, so it was Mary Ann Lee at that point. I attached the 1911 census image, as well as the trancription.

    I do not know the names of her parents, only that she was Irish (I was originally not sure if she was born in Ireland or her parents were). My grandfather also stated that his mother died young, and it appears that Mary Ann (Hartnett) Lee died in 1919, so I don't see a later Census. 

    If you have any clues/ideas, please let me know, I would love to find out more about her!

  • Thank you Miriam! Unfortunately I don't know much about her parents and since she died fairly young I can't find additional details. I am trying to find out details about my father's side of the family. He was born in Liverpool and emigrated to the States at a young age. Many of his ancestors within a few generations had emigrated to the Liverpool area from Ireland, and I'm having a tough time tracking them down.

    Any help would be great, thank you so much!
