I am seeking information on the family of my grandfather, Michael J Lyons.
Michael was the eldest of 5 children born to James Lyons and Margaret Sullivan in Feb of 1880. His American records show Feb 6 as his DOB. Irish records show Feb 13. He immigrated to NYC in 1900. His siblings were Bridget 1881, Jeremiah 1884, James 1886 and Thomas 1888. I believe Michael was the only one to leave for America.
I am curious to learn of those who remained, dates of deaths, locations of burials etc. I'm also interested to know of any descendants of his siblings remain in the area. Once travel is safe, I hope to make a trip to my ancestral home and would like as much info in hand on arrival! Thanks in advance for any help in furthering my search!

Tom:
James Lyons and Margaret Sullivan were married in 1879. See third record on this link. The names of their fathers are shown on the record.

Regarding the birth date for Michael, there was a fine if the parents failed to register a birth within 30 days. You will notice that the birth was registered on March 5th and I'm sure they told the registrar the birth was February 13th as the birth date to avoid any possibility for a fine. By the way, the baptismal record shows February 6th for the birthday.
The family lived in Killomeerhoe townland in Lisselton civil parish.
You may have this record but here is the 1911 census. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kerry/Urlee/Killomeerh…
James Lyons died in 1888 (last record on the page) https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…
Margaret Lyons died in 1940 Thomas was the informant https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…
Thomas married in 1923 to Margaret Hennessy https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…
www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free Irish government site which has civil records births until 1919, marriage until 1944 and deaths thru 1969.

Hello Roger and thank you for all this information!! Your time is much appreciated. Is there any way I can research the burial sites, their parish church etc. My dad often spoke of visiting 'family' by the name of Hennessy in the Philadelphia area. I could never make a connection to that surname. Now I can assume they were actually relatives of Thomas' wife Margaret. I hope, with this info, I can gather more before planning a trip. Again, thank you for your time and effort!

Tom:
Killomeerhoe townland is about five miles east of Ballybunion. I would contact St. John's church in Ballybunion and see if they would have any burial records particularly for Margaret. Likely they are buried in the local cemetery near the church. https://www.dioceseofkerry.ie/parish/Ballybunion/
FYI. I grew up in Philadelphia but live in Maryland now.
