I checked for possible baptism for Catherine without success, unfortunately the baptism registers for the Catholic parish of Donaghmoyne Co. Monaghan only go back to the 1860s, and the marriages back to the 1870s, so not quite far enough to find baptisms of Catherine or her siblings.
I assuming this family were Catholic, or could they have been some other denomination ?
The townland is more usually listed as ‘Tonyellida’ and it consists of just over 125 acres, Griffith’s Primary Valuation, dated February 1861, shows a Bryan Malone leased a house and two properties totaling just over 5 acres in this townland from the Marquis of Bath.
I checked for a possible church or civil marriage for Catherine in Ireland but did not locate any good matches, possibly she married before the start of civil records of Catholic marriages in 1864 - the first child I located to John and Catherine was born in 1865 in Lurganbois (Luganboys) townland. A widowed Catherine and a son John (a blacksmith) are shown in this townland in 1901, in 1911 most of the occupants in the townland have recorded their names in Irish - Catherine is shown as Tríona and her son John as the Irish equivalent Eoin, also in the household is John's wife and three children.
