Hello from Australia,
I found a baptism record on the Dromcollogher Catholic register for a Mary LONG bapstised 05 December 1841 to parents John LONG and Catherine AUTELL. A Mary LONG can be found on the passenger list for the ship "White Star" arriving Melbourne, Victoria 15 September 1864, aged 23, which agrees with the baptism record - no parents are named on the passenger manifest. Margaret married a William Esler in New South Wales in 1871. She died 24 April 1908 in Mulwala, NSW with her obituary showing she was 62 years old, so born around 1846. Her death record does not show her age but does name her parents as "John" and "Catherine".
If anyone has any knowledge of this family in the Dromcollogher area, I would be interested in knowing when and where John LONG and Catherine AUTELL married, their ages at marriage, and names of their parents if possible. Also, any information on siblings for Mary LONG.
I did find two names John LONG on the 1833 tithe applotment register in Corcomohide but no fuerthe rin fo as to their families. In the same parish, there is a William JURDAN which is of interest as the mystery great-great-grandparenst I am researching are John JORDON and Mary O'CONNOR. No names in common but a DNA match to folk with John LONG and William JURDAN in their trees.
Thanks, Alan Denham

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found the 1839 marriage record for John and Catherine.Records for this parish start in 1830 so no baptismal records will be available for John and Catherine unless they were baptized in a different parish than Drumcolligher/Broadford. I did locate baptismal records for three siblings: Mary 1840 William 1846 John 1849
The 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Dromcolliher civil parish showed two John Long records. One of them was likely your ancestor https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/limerick/dromcolliher.htm

Hi Roger,
thanks very much for the information you provided. The clarification of the surname ANTLE not AUTELL was particularly helpful. Castlemahon is also an area of interest for the surname I am looking for being JORDON and I note on the marriage record for John Long and Catherine Antle that the marriage above is for a David JOURDAN. Getting closer!

Hi again Roger,
I've since been in contact with someone who has done a lot of work on this Esler family tree. She mentioned that an early book from the district where William and Margeret Esler lived states that Margaret Long was born in Dromcollogher circa 1847 and that her death record names her mother as Catherine COLLINS not Austell/Antle. The same book mentions that she came out on the ship "White Star" which shows that she was 23 arriving in 1864, thus born circa 1841. All the records, including an obituary I found, agree that she was born in Limerick.
I've searched for marriages between John LONG and Catherine COLLINS 1830 to 1850 but cannot find any such record nor for a Margaret Long born to a LONG-COLLINS couple. Could you please check if there were any other Margaret LONG baptisms in Limerick from 1840 to 1850 and marriages between John LONG and a (Catherine) COLLINS?
Thanks very much, Alan

Hello, not sure if this the right place for me to comment. I have a deep Y genetic match to a John (Henry?) Long from Dublin who migrated to Ballarat, Australia ca 1830's. Not sure of dates. However, I believe I am of German Palatine origins, and I know that a contingent of such people arrived in Limerick 1710. Specifically, I am interested in a Michael Myers b 1730 who may have come from Ireland before migrating to America (NY) prior to 1760, and more generally the Myers/Long/Klein and Paul families. I know some of the Palatines did onwards migrate, others stayed in Limerick/Ireland. I would be very grateful if anyone could elaborate. Many thanks.Rob

By the way, I am not sure whether it was John Long, or his son William Henry Long(b.1826), or both who migrated to Australia. But I am linked to their descendant.Rob
