My great great great grandparents are Martin Moloney and Ellen Hickey who married in Newmarket (Newmarket in Fergus parish). According to the parish records 1824 to 1866, they married there in 1838 and had Bridget (my great great grandmother) in 1844. I can find no other siblings. Bridget emigrated to Brisbane Australia in 1862, from there I have all her records. I'm trying to find out all I can about Martin and Ellen. Can anyone advise what my next steps could be? Thank you, Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Subscription site - www.rootsireland.ie has a record of the marriage of Martin Molony and Ellen Hicky in Newmarket-on-Fergus on July 31st 1838. Witnesses: Patrick McNamara and Mary O'Leary. Both of those surnames are in the Newmarket-on-Fergus parish. No record of children found on this site.
A check of Griffith's Land Valuations c1853 - www.askaboutireland.ie - for a Martin Molony in County Clare lists only 2. Martin Molony in Lecarrow Lower, Feakle and Martin Molony in Thomastown, Kilrush.
Clare Library - www.clarelibrary.ie may have records of the Voters list.
Regards,
McCoy

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I have the 1938 record for their marriage but will definitely following up in the other suggestions. I'm wondering if they died in the Great Famine. Looks like County Clare was badly affected. Thanks again. Kathy
