Michael Tierney and Catherine Higgins

The surname Tierney is in several parishes in County Clare, and on looking at the Griffith's Valuation, there are several places that you might consider using both Higgins and Tierney as a location finder as most married couples lived close to one another.  If you use the website, Irish Ancestors and input both surnames, you will see what parishes in County Clare they are both located in.  https://www.johngrenham.com/surnamescode/twosurnames.php?surname2=Higgins&surname=Tierney. This may help to narrow down your search.

 I would recommend that you then look at the parishes on the Clare Library website and view the parish registers which may have records before the 1850s when the children would have been baptised.  If you have any further questions, please let me know. Jane Halloran Ryan, I just wanted to let you know that I followed all of your excellent advice and have found my Tierney/Higgins family!  I found them in Kilrush, and was able to also find Ellen's parents, as well!  It would not have been possible without your excellent advice, and I can't begin to tell you how very grateful I am that you offered your help.
