Am planning to visit Ireland in or around September 2019 and am stumped on research in Clare.
2nd great-grandfather Patrick O'LOughlin, born is son of and unkown O'Loughin and Honora Nagle. His birth should be around 1831, Kilfenora (?) and his marriage to Bridget Conway in abt. 1856 produced 10 children with their daughter Mary Angela O'Loughlin being my great-grandmother. Born 24 March 1864. All 10 children born/baptized un Kilmoon, Clare. Some went to Australia, some to Rhode ISland USA.
Mary Angela, age 14, and her sister Brudget went to Australia in February 1876. She married James Abel Cause in Townsville, Queensland and later Patrick Alfred Dennis McGrath. 28 years in Queensland & 37 years in New South Wales. Cause line eventually married into the McSweeney line from Cork.
My Clare surnames are: O'Loughlin. Conway, Nagle, O'Brien and surnames that married into family.
Whatever help is available will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Susan:
Welcome to the Ireland Reaching Out programme and thank you for your post to the message board. There is a certain amount of information about Kimoon parish on the Clare Library website and you should definitely have a look at it: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilmoon.htm You should also look at the genealogy section of the website as that will have additional information. The link is: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm In the meantime, when you arrive to Ireland, you should definitely visit the Local Studies Centre in Ennis This is the local history centre for County Clare and it is located beside the DeValera Library in Ennis. There are two wonderful archivists and historians there--Peter Beirne and Brian Doyle and they are most helpful with assistance.
Please keep me posted as to your travel plans and I will try to meet you if possible, or find someone in that area who may be able to assist. The very best of luck..
Kind regards,
Jane

FAMILY LORE WITHOUT PROOF
Mr O'Loughlin and Honora Nagle...Mr O’Loughlin was a soldier. Later bought a farm-or was rewarded for services rendeerd- but died while his children (Michael) and Patrick were very small. They were born around 1830s. Honora lost the farm because she was unable to run it with only 2 small boys. Michael went to Australia in late 1840s or early 1850s.
Patrick, apparently, stayed in Ireland for he died in April 1917 and is buried in Killeany, Clare.Honora O'Loughlin does show in the Griffiths Evaluation as having a farm.
Supposition is that she remarried and had last children by second spouse since her first husband is reputed to have died when Patrick and Michael were very young. These last children would bear another surname if this supposition is correct.susanmcsweeneycarpenter
