Owens/Angley

I have had a look for you in the Broadford parish registers which are available for free on the National Library of Ireland website.  The page showing your greatx2 grandmother's baptism record is attached.

You might find further children in this register.  The link is below:

In addition, I have looked for a Martin Owens in the Griffith's Valuation for Broadford parish (also Killokennedy and Kilseily) but have not found any reference to that surname in 1855.  It may be that this family emigrated by that time.

However, I did find a reference to a James Angly living in Kilmore townland in the Civil parish of Killokennedy in the Griffith's and I'm wondering if this might be a connection to Ellen Augh/Angley.

The 1901 Census shows an Angley family continuing to reside in this area.  It might be worth researching them further.

Jane, there was a David Owens living in Kilmore in the early 1830s. He had  a holding there. probably gone by the end of the Famine. john and Thomas Angley were in Kilmore also around this time. 

Hopefully this is something that you can look at further.  Let me know if you need anything further.

Hi Ellen,

My mother is an Angley, her father originated from Kilmore, Broadford, Co Clare. Unfortunately he passed away before I was born, but would have been born circa 1910 ish I estimate. Happy to put you in contact with her or my uncle's who may have some family history to share.

My 4 x great grandfather was the James Angley from Kilmore Townland that Jane  mentioned.  I want to find out more about my family. For instance the name sounds English. James rented land from an Irishman, Timothy O'brien. Were they considered Irish? They all were Roman Catholic.  I wonder how long they were in Ireland. Where did they come from? Any help would  be appreciated. Thanks.
