Hi, I am very excited to see my Herlihy surname in an Irish context. I would love to know more details about any Irish connections of my Great Grandfather PATRICK HERLIHY. He emigrated to Australia in about 1877. He was supposedly born 5 March 1854 to JOHN HERLIHY and ELIZABETH FITZGERALD in Kilgobbin, Co Kerry.
My research to date indicates that he had an older brother John Herlihy, born circa 1845, and living in Knockglassmore in 1915. I think he was married to Mary ...? and had two children - Minnie born 1881 and Patrrick born 1891. I am keen to know of any more details about him or his decendants.
Names listed on a 1915 Extract of Census Return from 1851 requested by my ancestor's brother John are: Margt, Mary, X (presumably John's position in the family), Pat, Michael, Lizzie, Ellen, Kate, Robert and Bridget.
Baptism details for siblings of my Great Grandfather Patrick Herlihy include Robert Herlihy, baptised 14 July 1857 and Catherine Herlihy, baptised 29 January 1860. The address for both is listed as K. Glassmore.
Any further details anyone could supply would be very much appreciated.
Regards, Jenny Herlihy (Queensland, Australia)

Jennifer:
The RC parish for Kilgobban civil parish would be Annascaul. According to the parish register on the NLI site https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634231#page/1/mode/1up there is a gap in baptismal records from March 1839 to October 1851, Like you, I only found the Robert and Catherine baptismal records on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie so I'm wondering if Patrick and the other siblings were all born in the gap period.
John Herlihy is listed in the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household list for Kilgobban parish in Knockglass More. https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/kerry/kilgobban.htm
See fourth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…; I believe this is the 1876 marriage for John Herlhy to Mary McKenna. Even though he was not living in Knockglaas More, his father was John and deceaded.
Here is the 1888 birth reocrd for his son Patrick in Knockglass More mother Mary McKenna

Thank you Roger for locating a potential marriage record for my ancestor's brother John Herlihy and his son Patrrick. The details fit as Camp seems to be the closest township to his farm and the age also matches. I will keep looking for more possible children of this untion, I cannot find a record for anyone called Minnie. Was this a common diminutive for any particular name in that time - Mary? Margaret?
Regards, Jenny Herlihy.
