My ancestor Owen Preston married Ellen Reddy. Their son John Preston married Bridget Burke in 1845 in Buckingham, Quebec.

Carol:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Records for Kilfian RC parish go back to October 1826 for baptisms and July 1826 for marriages. I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate the marriage record. There were four baptismal records for children: Mary 1827 Catherine 1830 Peter 1833 James 1834.
John was likely born before October 1826.
the Tithe records indicate the family lived in Seeghanbaun townland.

Thank you Roger. John was born in 1819. He settled in Canada; did you know there's a small community in Quebec named Mayo. There's even a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Knock.

Hi Catherine, Found a Owen Preston on the Census for 1901 and 1911, he lives there with his sister in Kilfian West, could be some of your ancestors, just a thought as irish families would pass the same names on down through the generations. Here is a twk screen shots of the two Census, you never know!
