My grandfather Michael Joseph Burke immigrated from CooraClare to United States in 1897. I am working on my family tree. I am looking for information on his parents, Patrick Burke(born around 1835) and Mary Kelly( born around 1840) and any information on their parents. I know of a connection to Christina Ryan(1910-1998) my father's first cousin( I met her on a trip to Ireland in 1996. Would love to have info on my great grandparents and also share any info I have with relatives still in the area of Cooraclare.
Thanks,

Hi Anne:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board. You will find a lot of very useful information on the Clare Library Genealogy page on the Clare Library website. The link is here:
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm
You will note the catholic parish of Cooraclare is within the civil parish of Kilmacduane. Many of the local records that you will be interested in are located at this link:
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilmacduane.htm
I see a reference to the Michael Joseph Burke family in the 1901 Census here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000478888/
You will find the baptisms for Michael and his siblings in the second link where you will see that the baptism register is dated from 1835-1880. If you need any further help, please let me know.
All the best
Jane
