My cousin and I will be visiting Fethard in late June to learn more about our Anglim ancestors who were farmers in Colman Cramptmore.
1. We would like to find the names of the parents of our 2x great grandfather, Patrick Anglim (21 Dec 1821 – 17 Nov 1902), who on 14 Jan 1856 (in the Clerihan Parish) married Margaret Commins of Ardfinnan (27 Aug 1829 – 19 Apr 1912). My online research in the Tithe Applotment Books, Griffith’s Valuation and the Valuation Office Books shows that a Michael Anglim lived in Colman in 1828 on land leased from Mr. Hobson; by the mid 1840’s Anne Anglim was listed as the head of household on land leased from Rev. Richard Hobson. Are there any other historical records available that would help us to determine if this was our family?
2. I tried to find Patrick’s baptismal record online; however, the records for Clerihan Parish prior to 17 Apr 1852 were accidentally burned. Is there any other source that could confirm the date of his birth/baptism?
3. I was able to locate baptismal records for 8 of Patrick and Margaret's 9 children: Michael (13 Dec 1856), John (4 Mar 1858), Anne (11 Jan 1860), Mary Anne "Polly" (4 Jun 1865), Patrick (18 Oct 1867), Ellen "Nellie" (13 Nov 1870), Jerome and Richard (twins - 6 Jan 1873). However, I am still searching for a record of the birth/baptism of my great grandfather, Thomas Anglim. I searched the Clerihan Parish baptismal register to no avail. It's likely he was born between 1861 and 1864, as there is no Civil Registration Birth record for him (I understand that Civil Registrations for Catholic births began in 1864)
4. Family records here in the US have no information relating to Anne (baptized 11 Jan 1860). We would like to find when she died and where she is buried.
5. We would like to meet any Anglim relatives still in the Fethard area who would be willing to meet with us. Of Patrick and Margaret’s 9 children, only Richard Anglim (6 Jan 1873 – 3 Apr 1927) stayed in Ireland. He had 7 children with his wife, Bridget Hayden. Their children who stayed in Ireland were Mary (About 1897 - 2 Apr 1959; she married Brud Power and had a daughter, Mary who died 6 Apr 1943), Patrick (About 1900 - 26 Aug 1967), Margaret (Jun 1902 - 25 Jul 1953, Richard (About 1907 - 21 Apr 1971; he married Daisy), and possibly Bridget (About 1909 - ?). The other 2, George (6 Nov 1904 - Jan 1980 in New Jersey) and Ellen (2 Dec 1910 - ? in Connecticut), emigrated to the U.S.
Patrick, Margaret, Richard, Bridget, Mary, Mary Power and Patrick are buried together at Newchapel Graveyard. Richard and Daisy are buried separately at Newchapel Graveyard.
We would greatly appreciate any guidance you could provide to assist us in this research! I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Margaret Riley

Hi Margaret,
There is an excellant resource for you to research your Anglim family geneology. Just goggle: Anglim Odysseys , An Anglim family history. It was complied by Christopher Anglim from Silver Springs Maryland. He is a researcher at the University of the District of Columbia. It is a large file that is comprehensive that encompases the whole world of Anglim branches. I noticed on page 200+ or so that your relative Thomas Anglim is listed in Country Tipperary.
My Anglim family is from the Rosegreen, Country Tipperary branch. (Northern California) We evolved from Matthew Anglim. My greatgrandfather Edmond moved here apox 1895.
We also have Slattery relatives from Clerihan, Country Tipperary. Another good geneology site is: Family Searc. It is a free site run by the Morman church. Let me know if you need further information.
