Hello!  I live on Cape Cod.  My paternal grandmother was Marion Davoren.  She was born in Milford, Massachusetts in 1895.  Her grandparents were from County Clare, Ireland.  Jeremiah and Bridget (O’Connell) Davoren.  My understanding is Jeremiah emigrated to the US on a coffin ship with his parents and siblings.  His mother died on the crossing and was buried at sea.  I think their names were michael and Bridget (Reynolds) Davoren.  I believe they were from Ballymurphy.    I would love to connect with family if I still have any living there.  Sincerely, Lynn (Goucher) Rutman

  • Dear Lynn:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.

The townland of Ballymurphy that you mentioned is in the civil parish of Noughaval which is located in the Northern part of County Clare.  There were still Davorens there in the 1901 Census.  Your best bet is to take a look through the Clare Library website for further research.  The link is below:

There are several people locally who I will enquire about the surname of Davoren and Reynolds for you.  If you would like to make contact with me, please do so directly at:  jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.

The very best of luck with your research.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.
