Thomas, Ellen and their 4 children - Edward, Catherine, William and Ann came to Canada and settled in New Brunswick in 1845.
About the same time, an Edward O'Neill and his wife Eleanor (Hickson) also came from County Kerry to a neighbouring parish in New Brunswick. It is thought that Thomas and Edward were brothers. Both were farmers.
Any suggestions as to a parish of origin or any other information about these families would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has Co. Kerry church records. Church of Ireland records are not as plentiful as the RC records. I was able to locate an 1840 marriage record for Edward O'Neill and Elin Hickson in Killorgin parish which was likely Elin's parish. Did not find a marriage record for Thomas O'Neill and Ellen Harold. I did find two possible baptismal records for an Edward Neill and a Charles Neill in the Kilcolman C of I chruch. See below.Killorglin and Kilcolman parishes border each other.
The marriage record showed townlands Edward O'Neill was from Knockavota which is in Kilcolman parish and Elin Hickson was from Tinahally in Killorglin civil parish.
I think it is likely that Thomas and Edward were brothers. Do you know that young Edward was born in 1837?

Hello Roger McDonnell
Many thanks for your help in locating this information. I have been searching for a number of years to try and connect our Irish ancestors with actual places in Ireland and this is the first break-through. Your time and interest is very much appreciated.
The Charles mentioned does not show up in the New Brunswick census information but there is another Charles who was born about 1850. Perhaps the first Charles died young. My great grandmother, Catherine, was born about 1840 but there is always leeway with censu information.
Thank you, too, for the website suggestion. I am looking forward to taking a closer look at it.
