Matthew Spain and Mary Hedderton were maried in Nenagh in 1828. One of witnesses to the wedding was James Heddeton. There was a James Hedderton baptised in Nenagh 3 June 1793 parents Thomas and Margaret Spain. Whether or not this is the same James is unknown at the moment however it is certainly a possiblilty. Matthew Spain died 18 June 1871 aged 85 yeards according to his death cert. He is buied in Kenyon Street graveyard Nenagh which is an interdemonination graveyard. He was husband of Mary Spain and father of Daniel . Headstone was erected by Mary Spain daughter in law. The headstone transcitptions are available on on https://tipperarystudies.ie/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/B.%20Vol%205%20Parish%20of%20Nenagh%20reduced.pdf
I will try and get a photograph of the headstone in the next few days and post here.
Kind regard
Margaret

I would like to acknowlede the help of Seamus O'Brien in locating the Spain/ Meagher headstone in the gravveyard.
