I am searching for my greatgrandfather's birthplace,parents,baptism,etc. I found him in Norfolk,Ct.,USA in 1850.Family oral history said he was coming to this country with his father and uncle, to join a sister, possibly a domestic, in Ct.Both father and uncle died on the famine ship and their bodies were thrown overboard.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.

Thank you for your message board post. Do you have any more information about William Patrick? Do you have his sister's name who had emigrated previously? How old was he in 1850? Where did he live when he arrived in CT, and where did he die? You can use Census information and immigration and naturalisation documents to trace him further. Was he a jCivil War veteran? What did he do for a living in CT?
