This is my first post on here, so hopefully this is right.
We are looking for information on my great grandmother Winifred Darmody (nee Condon), if anyone can help please. We've joined AncestryUK and can find lots of info on the men in the family, but nothing on her.

All we know is that she died in 1973, and is buried in Lisbunny cemetry in Nenagh, Tipp.

We don't know when she was born (her husband John was born around 1879 so we'd imagine she was maybe born around the same time), who her parents were and whether she came from Tipperary

She was Winifred Condon before marrying John Darmody and they had around 10 children, including Kathleen Darmody, who was my grandmother. We're not sure when the first of her children was born but we know the third was born around 1917.

If you can point me in the direction at all, that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, we had an outage, PC did a wobble.
    Mary the second child, the address for her birth was Silver Street, Nenagh.

    Have a look at the Census of Ireland, Silver Street was where John'd family lived.
    The National Archives of Ireland

    And this site for the births.  Then Marriages and deaths.

  • Hi, I was born in Nenagh now live in Wales.
    So I just help.  I have been helping for years so I know where to look.
    After 1920 for births use ........this site below.......births up to 1958, I am listed.

    Next step for me today is info on John Darmody (one of the millions of them) who died in 1985 and set up World Aid and who was son to Kathleen Darmody (not my grandmother, her aunt - we have no info on her either)

    Some of the ages on these certficates are bizaare, aren't they? For example Winifred's birthday certficate doesn't tally up with the age when she got married!
