Heritage and Genealogy Resources in Roscrea

The Parish Office holds the Baptismal, Marriage and Death Records for the parish area.  These are currently under a digitisation process.  Because of the time involved, it is best to send your queries at least a week or two before you arrive to allow for physical searching as it is a time-consuming process.  The Catholic Records – send an email via their website www.roscreacatholicchurch.ie. For Church of Ireland or Methodist Records it is best to contact the local clergy at the contact numbers above.  Alternatively, send a query to Roscrea Reaching Out group who will do their best to locate your records.

Reference material and Publications about the Parish

There are many local publications on the parish history.  Many, like the Roscrea & District and The Tourist Trail both 1977 publications are no longer in print.  Gleeson’s History of the parish is likewise unavailable except through the Library Service.  A recent map and tour guide will is now available.
