Stories and legends from our area's past.

There are many folktales rooted in the area. They start with the people called the Tuatha De' Danann of pre-history to the Fianna. It is said that Keash is the birthplace of Cormac Mac Art, a legendary King of Ireland. Here too is the love tale of Diarmuid and Grainne. There are stories related to the great battle in 971 AD between the men of the north and men of Connaught concerning the number of kings killed and then buried at the old church in the neighboring parish of Toomour.
