Músaem Chontae Thiobraid Árainn aka Tipperary County Museum tells the story of Tipperary and its people from early times to present day. The National Museum of Ireland allows it to retain archaeological items of local significance and to borrow items of national and international importance. It features artefacts from military, religious, social history, political, archaeology, geology, townscapes, photography, sports & industrial collections. A varied programme of temporary exhibitions, educational and outreach activities is organised by the Museum.

Admission is free.

RE-OPENING SOON...

First established in Clonmel in the 1940s, the new premises officially opened in 2000 on the site of a former prison (the location of Ireland’s only Borstal from 1906–1956).

Tipperary County Museum will be closed from April 8th - End Oct 2019 for essential works to develop a new interpretation around our vast collection.  Keep an eye out for updates via: Twitter @Tipperarymuseum & Instagram @tipperarycountymuseum  and tipperarycoco.ie/museum
