I must tell you that none of us can start a search with so little information to go on.  As I'm sure you can appreciate there are thousands and thousands of records for a Mary and Tom??

You need to start by looking at your parents birth certificates or marriage certificate to find out what their parents' names were. Once we have names, approximate dates etc we can then make a start.

Try your best to find out everything you can about your grandparents and where thery came from.  Are there any first  names running through your family ?  Have you spoken to any aunts or uncles?  You'd be surprised at the information they have.
