Hi, I would be grateful for your help with the above. Allen Nicholl Married Elizabeth Picken on 8th Sept. 1871 in the 1st Presbyterian Church at Ahoghill in that Parish. He was 24 years old, a weaver from Craignageeragh and Elizabeth was 20 a spinster from Cloghogue. Allen's father was Hugh Nicholl, a farmer and Elizabeth's father was Samuel Picken also a farmer. Witnesses were David and Hugh Nicholl possibly Allens's brothers. This taken from Certified entry Registrar's district of Ballymena.
Whilst I have been able to find 1901 and 1911 census records for Allen and Elizabeth (Betty) and their children births, I have not been able to establish an accurate record of Allen's Birth c1847 and his Parents.
Any hints would be appreciated.
Regards, Ron

Ron,
Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church. That may also have been the groom’s but not necessarily. I see from the 1901 census that the family were Presbyterian. There are 3 Presbyterian churches in Ahoghill. So you would probably need to search all of the churches records to try and find Allen’s baptism. Ahoghill 1st has baptism records from 1841, Ahoghill 2nd from 1835 but Ahoghill 3rd’s only start in 1859. Earlier records have been lost. So if he was baptised there, sadly you won’t find it. Copies of the other 2 churches records are in PRONI. You might also want to widen the search to other nearby Presbyterian churches eg Grange, Portglenone (which has 3) and Cullybackey (which had 3 at one time).
