I located the 1882 civil marriage index record and it appears that Agnes' maiden name was also Crawford. I also looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and it appears that they were married in a Presbyterian church in Larne. Don't know which one.

Getting back to the civil record, you can get a copy of the record from the General Register Office for around 4 euros. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1882. if you want to get a copy, let me know and I will forward instructions.

I also looked at the 1862 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Skerry parish and there were no Crawfords in Tullymore townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/antrim/skerry.htm

I agree with Roger. I think Thomas Crawford married Agnes Crawford. They married on 22.2.1882 and the marriage was registered in Larne. Thomas?s father was also named Thomas. Their son Robert appears to have been born 7^th Nov 1886; dau Margaret 12.Aug.1890. (The GRONI births index gives Crawford as the mother?s maiden name for both).  You can view copies of those certificates on the GRONI site for ?2 each. https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

The Griffiths revaluation records show that Thomas Crawford acquired the Tullymore farm in 1895. Previous tenant was Hamilton Sayers. It was plot 1 which was a farmhouse, outbuildings and just under 42 acres.

Crawford Thomas of Tullymore Broughshane county Antrim farmer died 9 November 1929 Probate Belfast 6 June to William Crawford farmer and George B. Caruth solicitor. Effects ?108 5s.

Crawford, Margaret Jane Wilson of Tullymore Broughshane Ballymena county Antrim spinster died 8 October 1965 at Waveney Hospital Ballymena Probate Belfast 30 November to William Crawford farmer and James Henry Bamber solicitor. Effects ?444 12s.

There?s a Ballymena area war dead site which may have details of James death in WW1 but unfortunately the site is down at present.

The CWGC site should also have James listed. However there were 48 people named James Crawford who died in WW1 who served in the British Army so I?d need a bit more information about him to track the right one, eg rank and regiment.  http://www.cwgc.org

I?d be inclined to look at the 1882 marriage certificate to see where Thomas Crawford was living then, and what his and his father?s occupations were. That may enable you to trace the family further back. (If you let me know the information I?ll see what I can do).

Thank you so very much for such a quick response.  You gave me more info in a few hours than I've been able to find in years.  I'm really looking forward to the Co Antrim expert's response.

On a different path, I don't know if you can help with this.  I have a cousin I have been trying to reach out to reconnect.  Her maiden name is Valerie Gault, last known address, Larne.  I do not know her married name.  Therein is the problem.  While trying to find her last year, I did find that her mother had past away recently.  My mother had done family research, but when she died, I never found her work.  I know she and Valerie's mom corresponded frequently and I was thinking maybe she shared the reseach with Valerie's mom and maybe Valerie may know of it.  I emailed the chuch where Grace Gault's (her mother's name), funeral was held, but never got a repsonse.  Any suggestions how I can find her married name?  Thanks again so much.

I did find that and also her husband's obit in the Irish Times.  I just found Valerie's brother David.  I didn't know his first name is Samuel.  Wife is Carol.  They now live near Donaster, S. Yorkshire, but haven't been able to find an address or phone number.  I stumbled on a Gencom entry Carol made in 2004.

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event, registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

Hope this finds you well.  Since our conversations, I have found a contact that has done a lot of research on my family's lineage, (not without a few errors).  Thomas Crawford, born 20 June 1852 was listed born at Tullymore.  Our conversation earlier proves that wrong.  I'm not really sure where he was born.  His wife Agnes, was born in Raloo Parish 29 June 1853.

I was wrong about James (child #1) having died in WW1.  Turns out child #2, Thomas Crawford, appears to be the one who was killed.  He does not show up in the 1901 or 1911 Census's at Tullymore, so I never knew he existed till now.  The report I got states he was killed 2 Sep 1918 in WW1.  I checked CWGC, but came up with no hits.  Any idea where else I could look?

CRAWFORD, Thomas, Private, 15th Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment),  KIA on 2/9/1918 in an attack on the Drocourt Queant Line. Aged 34, the son of Thomas and Agnes Crawford, Tullymore, Broughshane. Buried Dominion Cemetery, Hendecourt-Les-Cagnicourt, France. Commemorated in 2ndBroughshane Presbyterian Church.

PS I'd assume he had emigrated to Canada prior to 1901, which is why you can't find him in the Irish censuses.

Thank you very much for that information.  You have been a very big help.  I believe I actually did find Thomas in the 1901 census.  There are only two Thomas's of the correct age in Ireland in that census.  One was listed as a son of someone else.  The second, (and I am confident this is Thomas), was listed as a boarder at a house in Ballymena, with his occupation listed as a fitter at a foundry.  This matches well with his attestation papers when he enlisted in the Canadian Army (which I obtained thanks to your help) of machinist.  So, it looks like he emmigrated sometime between 1901 and 1911 because he does not show up in the 1911.  Thanks again for everything you've done.

He died just 8 weeks before the end of the war. That's very sad.

I noticed the Crawford family grave today in Broughshane.  My attention was drawn to it because my great uncle Samuel McCosh died in France on the same day in 1918 whilst fighting with the Canadian army.  They probably emigrated to Canada around the same time and I'm sure knew each other.  I will do further research.  I also have taken pics of the headstone and commemoration, pls get in touch if you'd like them.

Greetings, your Titanic email got me thinking.  My grandfather did talk once or twice about working in the shipyard on the Titanic, but he never said what.  Do you think the shipbuilders would still have records on who worked there?  Just curious. Thanks, Curtis Weisner 

The Titanic was built by Harland & Wolff. Their records for that period are in PRONI in Belfast. Personal visit required to view them.
