My Grandfather was born in Skerry in 1870 and moved to Scotland around 1890.
My grandfather (John) had a brother Samuel.
I would be interested to know if there is any trace of a Wilson family in the Skerry area.

Looking at Griffiths Valuation of Skerry in 1862 there are at least 7 or 8 Wilson households. I suggest you look for John or Samuel?s marriage or death certificates in Scotland and get their parents names from that. That will make it much easier to trace precisely which family they came from.
Ballymena is the civil registration town for Skerry. In 1870 the only relevant birth was a William John Wilson Vol 11, page 158. Can?t check for Samuel Wilson without a year of birth. There are at least 15 of that name born around 1870, registered in Ballymena.

Following on (rather long after) I had useful advice from the site for which I am very grateful, I am now again trying to resolve an issue with Wilson/Morwood on which I would appreciate advice.
I have established that there were two Jane Morwood/John Wilson marriages in August of 1865 - one on the 5th and the other on the 12th. That on the 5th was recorded as at KILCONRIOLA. The the other was recorded as at KIRKINRIOLA (“Ireland Marriages 1619-1898”).
I appreciate that these are virtually the same location, but wondered if there could be significance in the difference in the recording of the name; a religious or social difference perhaps?
Any advice that might point to the correct couple would be appreciated.

The parish was originally known as Kilconriola but later changed to Kirkinriola. Both were used regularly, and there is no significance in one being used instead of the other. (Kil and Kirk both mean church). The surnames Kilpatrick and Kirkpatrick were interchangeable in the same way.
GRONI only has the 12th August marriage on its site. Have you looked at the 5th August document to see how it differs from the 12th? You can’t marry twice, so there may be an explanation for this eg a typographical error.
