Hunt & Brownlee

You haven’t said what denomination the marriage would have been, but I have searched the statutory marriage records for 1850-1860 in Northern Ireland and there’s no Hunt = Brownlee marriage registered there. Likewise none in the RC parish records.

Thank you Elwyn. I will keep looking for a connection between the two families. It might be that someone’s mother was a Hunt or Brownlee and married into one of the others family. It is just a hunch that this is how y DNA match and I are related. We will keep looking. :)

There is a marriage between Henry Cinnamon (father Samuel)  and Ann Brownlee (21 September 1821) at Tartaraghan COI - father John Brownlee.

Their daughter Alice Cinnamon married Abraham Ferry (in USA), and their daughter Julia Maria Ferry married Jerry Hunt.

I don't see that marriage but I do see the Brownlie/Brownlee surname in my own research into my Vennards. Sharing to ensure you have this - Civil Birth Venard Ethel Mary Vashti 1905 Mar 26 Tartaraghan CP Derrylard Co. Armagh  Thomas Venard labourer Amelia Brownlee "Informants Signature: Christina Brownlee Qualification: No Entry; Address: Derrylard Date of Registration: 03/04/1905 Signature: George Dougan Comment: Informant present at birth".

Amelia and Christina were sisters. Have you any family photos? David

No pictures. Unfortunately I'm not sure if/how this Vennard with Amelia are related and only gathered the information for when I might. 

I have a Cinammon/Sinnamon too - Sarah Sinnamon marries Wm Vennard (my 2nd cousin 2x removed) of Derrylileagh 1922 and they head to Michigan where show up for 1930 census.

I also have a Jean (Jeanie) Brownlie in my tree b 1795 married to Wm Meikle 1822 at Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire.

My Vennards left Armagh for Glasgow 1870s where married into long standing Lesmahagow Hutchieson family (Kirkmuirhill). Lots of Covenanter roots so expect to find some surnames of Lanarkshire from those times, later in Northern Ireland as well as elsewhere.

Brownlie surname is also connected to Covenanter times in Lanarkshire ie John Brownlie of Windyedge (https://drmarkjardine.wordpress.com/?s=brownlie).

clarification - Wm Meikle connection to Jean (Jeanie) Brownlie not confirmed and is work in progress for me.

"...The only evidence that John and James' father was called Thomas is on James' second marriage certificate of 1871, in which he states his father was a Thomas Vennard (Carpenter). Given that his son John was born in 1806 it is assumed that Thomas was born about 1775-80. No further children have yet been identified, but it is thought that Thomas' wife was called Ann (or Agnes) Brownlie (again no documentary evidence to date, just family information)..."
