Hi, I am trying to find any connection with the Kealy/Byrne family of Borris Carlow.
James Kealy married Johanna Byrne: 20 Feb 1873; Myshall district; Carlow; James liv Knockandrain; Witness: Henry Lucas and Margaret Kinsella
I'm not sure when James died but I believe Johanna died in childbirth 1883, aged 35.
Their known children so far :
Andrew 4 Jan 1874 (poss d1875)
Catherine/Kathleen: 9 Aug 1875 (twin)
Ellen: 9 Aug 1875 (twin)
Mary Ann/Maria: 2 Dec 1876
James: Bapt 29 Dec 1878
Patrick: 15 Apr 1880
Margaret: July-Sept 1883 (d1884)
I know from the 1901 Census that some of the children were living 5 Cashel Kiledmona Carlow
Patrick 20 farmer single
Katie 24 farmers dau single
Ellie 24 farmers dau single
Maria 22 farmers dau single – went to states after 1901 poss 1903 ship Ivernia to New York
My main interest is Catherine/Kathleen. She married my gt grandfather John Ruxton Weir in Dublin Mar 1908. Days after the marriage they travelled to New York to Catherine/Kathleen's sister Mary. In Apr 1909 John is in England marrying my gt grandmother Sarah Ruxton. John left his family (which included my grandmother) in the early 1920s and was never heard from or seen again. I found his death in Glasgow 1930. With him was his wife Kathleen Weir nee Kealy?????
Any help at all tracing the Kealy family that will hopefully answer the many questions I have regarding Catherine/Kathleen and John will be wonderful and very much appreciated.

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!
Unfortunately, it appears that the records you need would be in the UK or possibly the USA. As you know, our focus is on Irish records and assisting diaspora to locate where their ancestors came from in Ireland. Thanks!

Hi Roger,
It was my hope to find the siblings of Catherine/Kathleen who, I believe, the majority of which remained in Ireland. I also believe that Catherine/Kathleen returned to Ireland after the death of John in 1930. Hence my contacting this wonderful forum.
Do yu think anyone here will be able to help?

I was focusing on Catherine/Kathleen based on your comment and there was no mention of her returning to Ireland. Our ability to follow people after 1911 is limited unless there was a civil event that is included on www.irishgenealogy.ie
I did locate Patrick in the 1911 census and he had married to a Mary. I then went back and found the February 1909 marriage record to Maria Murphy. See link below. You will have to sign-in to see the record. The record shows her townland and her father's name.I did not find a marriage record for Ellen Kealy in the New Ross registration district. Maybe she emigrated? For the other children like James and Andrew, they may have emigrated also. They are not in Co. Carlow in the 1911 census.
Civil birth record images end in 1915. i searched for children of Patrick and Mary and did not find any records.I also looked for death records for Patrick and Mary and did not locate and death record images go up to 1965. I also searched for a death record for a Catherine Kealy in the New Ross registration district and got no record. Also no death record for Catherine Weir in that district.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Roger
