Bernie Walsh at the Carlow Public Library found the baptismal record for my gg grandmother, Alice (aka Ally & Alida) Taaffe. Ally's Father was John Taaffe, her Mother, Mary Whelan. The sponsors were Thomas Cummins and Anne Taaffe.
Ally immagrated to New Brunswick, Canada and married Patrick Foley from Waterford on 10 Sep 1832 in Saint John, NB. The witnesses were Denis Whelan and Catherine Dowling.
On the same day and at St-Jean Bureau de Santé RC Church, William Walsh married Mary Foley (perhaps a sister of Patrick?) with wintesses of William Finn and Rosana McGowan which may be of importance since Patrick Foley married Margaret McGowan in 1855 (b. Ireland 1829, d. Canada 1905) after Ally's death (1853).
According to one family tree Ally's parents immigrated to New Brunswick in 1833 but I do not have any evidence of that.
Would love to know more!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.
Do you have access to rootsireland.ie - there are a few Mary Foley baptism records there. You will have to make a guess at her year of birth but if you can get onto rootsireland or indeed familysearch.org which is free then you would be in a better position to see what baptisms, if any, may refer to Mary and start building up a picture from there.
Best wishes
