I am researching the Greer family who lived in Knockbride, particularly in the Townlands of Knocknalossett and Glasdrummond. My Great Grandfather was Edward Greer, the son of Robert Greer, who is described in the Tithe Applotment books as a Lessee of land from Col. Fulke Greville.
Edward Greer and his sister Ann arrived in South Australia on the ship "Storm Cloud" on April 29, 1858. They both married and raised large families in the north of South Australia, but never returned to their home country.
I am particularly interested in finding a marriage for Robert Greer (and the name of his wife) but have been unsuccessful in doing so. The marriage is most likely to have taken place in or around the early 1830s. I believe Robert Greer was baptised in c.1797 in Knockbride.
I have also been unable to find a Baptism for either Edward or Ann. It is possible that there are other siblings called Mary Jane and Sarah Greer. If anyone is able to help it would be much appreciated.

I went to Roots Ireland which is a subscription site and looked thru their indexes, I did not find the marriage record but the Church of Ireland marriage records on Roots start in 1825 so possibly Robert was married before then. I did not find the baptismal records for Edward or Ann but found three Greer baptismal records in Knockbride C of I for:
John 1829
Mary 1831
Sarah 1837
The father was Robert and the mother Elizabeth.
You may want to consider a one month subscription to Roots to look at the transcriptions they have of the Knockbride records.

Thank you for your reply Roger, I will do some more research and also take advantage of a one month subscription to Roots as you suggest. I first need to establish that the three Greer children you mention are in actual fact from the same family as my Edward and Ann are from (eg parent Robert & ? Elizabeth)
Are the Catholic BMD records separate and different from the Church of Ireland records?

Kay:
The Catholic records are separate from the C of I but Roots has both sets of Knockbride records. The RC records for Knockbride start in 1835.
