Hi Chris,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information on the family makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.
In the meantime, have you tried looking for other church records to see if you can find any more information? Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Knockbride parish, follow this link:
You could also try searching at:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see if there were any McCabe?s still in the area at the time? www.census.nationalarchives.ie
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Irish Genealogy Toolkit: www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com

Dear chrispatrik,
I don't know if there's any connection for sure, but I have a Clarke/Traynor family from Knockbride which is about a generation earlier than yours. However,I don't have any connection to the McCabe family.
I have a Margaret Clarke (C1795-C1839) from Knockbride who married a James Trainor (C1795-C1880)
I'm not sure if I have the date of his death right. He was from Drummeva,Knockbride.Margaret and James had 3 children that I know of who emigrated to Australia in 1841 and died there. They were John (1813-1894),Anthony (1814-1879), and my 2x Great Grandmother,Anne Trainor,(1819-1909).When those 3 siblings emigrated, their mother had died, but their father chose to stay behind in Co.Cavan, which leads me to believe that he had other children, possibly younger.
Unfortunately ,I don't know the name of Margaret and James' parents or siblings.
Anne Trainor married William McManus, from Ballyjamesduff,Co.Cavan. They settled in Kilmore,Victoria, and brought up their family there.
I know this is a longshot, but someone may recognise these family names. Here's hoping.
Thank you. Margot.

Thanks Margot.
It seems likely that there is some relationship between my Anne Clarke and your Clarke / Trainor family. I currently have no other information about the Clarke family. Perhaps someone can provide the information that ties them together.
