I have a birth record of my father's maternal grandmother Bridget Gilligan registered in Ennis 1866 but cannot trace the parents. Does anyone with Clare ancestry have more information about the family?

Hi Julie:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board. I will forward this post to one of our volunteers in Ennis, but you should check the registers from Ennis parish which are located at the link below:
http://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/
You should also check the Clare Library website which has a lot of very good online resources. The link to their Family HIstory and Genealogy section is below:

The very best of luck with your research. Be sure to let us know if you need further assistance.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Have found the birth record of Bridget Gilligan born to mother Margaret in Ennis workhouse in 1866. Father's name not given. I have also found the 1851 census record for a family Gilligan -father Thomas mother Bridget daughter Margaret (the applicant) and her daughter Peggy (Margaret) 8years old so born in 1843. They lived in town Ballyculleeny parish Clooney Barony Corcomroe.Thomas Gilligan also mentioned in Griffith's valuation 1855 in same location. Peggy might be the mother of Bridget born in 1866. Are there any other records I could locate prior to 1866? Also cannot find the emigration record for Bridget Gilligan who went to New Zealand then Australia about1884-1887.Any further information for this family would be appreciated.

Hi Julie:
you might try the Clare Library website and check the various sources there. The link is in my first post. You can also create a profile on the XO Chronicles. Let me know if you need anything else.
All the best,
Jane
