Hello,
I am in Ireland visiting a friend and looking to follow up on my ancestry. I have traced my Father's, Father's family to Newmarket on Fergus, County Clare. I will be driving to County Clare tomorrow and staying through Thursday. I am trying to trace the family to the area they are from. Any assistance or ideas on who to see or speak to would be appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and hope you are having a great trip.
I think your best bet is to stop at the Co. Clare library branch in Newmarket on Fergus. See link below. The Co. Clare library has one of the best online genealogy sites of any county in Ireland. See link below.
Assuming your ancestors were RC, I also provided the link to the parish register for New Market on Fergus. Without knowing the timeframe of your interest, I hesitate to provide other links. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi Cheryl:
My name is Jane and I'm a parish liaison for nearby Tulla, County Clare. You are more than welcome to email your information if you would like some assistance. You can reach me at: tulla@irelandxo.com.
I think that your best option is to go into the Local Studies Centre in Ennis. This research centre is located next to the main library and they are open from 10-1 and 2-5:30. There are two full time archivists there who will be able to assist you. Both are extremely helpful. In addition, there are a lot of great local resources and you will be able to look through them as to what may be pertinent to your family history. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email and if I can assist you while you are here, I will do my best. Good luck! Kind regards, Jane.
