We are looking for a register of burials/graves in Moyarta Graveyard.  In particular we know that Thomas Casey was buried there in 1936 and his headstone is being worked on at the moment.  His was the only name we had for that particular grave and we know that he buried 3 children and 2 wives before he died and I think it would be fair to assume that they may be buried in that graveyard.   Is anyone aware of where we might find more information on this.  We have all the death certs for these people and have been in contact with Clare County Council who do not seem to have any records relating to this graveyard.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Just read what you wrote above, sorry but I could not find anything on that particular graveyard, but I did look up Thomas and he was 1 remarkable Gentleman.   If you have acess to Facebook      -  Kilrush Historicial Society would be of great help as they would know the locality in great detail.   Good luck with your research.

  • Hello Phyl, Thank you so much for your response.  We have the birth, marriage and death details but have never seen the newspaper clips that you attached.  Can you tell me where you found them?  We will contact Kilrush Historical facebook stage as you suggested.  Thomas Casey certainly left his mark.  I am doing this research on behalf of his grandson Aidan Casey.  Aidan has quite a bit of information already but we recently started to search for the burial place of his immediate family.  Again thank you.

  • Hello again,

Lovely to hear back from you.  While doing my research - I do know that our loved ones just love to play hide and seek with us.

I got the newspaper cuttings from   www.irishnewsarchives.ie  - it is a subscription website and a great source of help. The local libraries have access to them if you are joined one here in Ireland.   Good luck with your research.
