Hi all

I'm looking for the following families:  James and Mary (Connor/O'Connors) who emigrated in 1849 to Sydney, Australia with Patrick, Michael and Mary.  James is listed on the ship records as being 24 but Patrick is 12 and Michael (my gggrandfather was 8), so 24 seems a tad unlikely, unless they were his brothers.  James parents were James and Bridget.  Mary's parents were Daniel and Honora.  Both sets of parents according to ship records were still alive when the family emigrated.  The records appear to show Kileath as where they originated (not a place which appears to exist), but family history says they were from Ennis.  The family was Catholic.

Michael married Catherine Flanagan, daughter of Patrick Flanagan (Co Clare) and Mary Moloney (Disart, Co Clare).  Patrick I believe was born about 1800 and died about 1858 in Clare.  Mary was the daughter of John Moloney and Mary McMahon.  I believe Mary Flanagan arrived in the colony on the Emperor as a widow.

In Australia the families were farmers in the upper Hunter Valley (Wybong/Muswellbrook).  They married Quinns and Hickeys from Co Clare.  I'd love to hear from anybody with connections with any of these families.  Regards Anne

Hi Anne, My great, great grandfather was Patrick Flanagan who was 19 yrs old when he arrived in Australia on the ship, Emperor, on the 6th June 1851 with his mother Mary Flanagan nee Maloney and 5 siblings. His father, also Patrick, died in Ireland before Mary migrated to Australia as a widow with family. Mary Flanagan and family were from the parish  of Dysart in County Clare. I have some othe info if you are still following this......regards, .Paul Flanagan
