Hello Anne,

Thank you for responding to my post. I only know that Johanna MacMahon, my grandmother was born in 1896 in Bedford Massachusetts. Her mother Joanna died tragically in 1902, also in Bedford.

Alice Hannon McMahon traveled to Bedford Massachusetts and lived with Michael McMahon. I believe, back in Ennistymon Martin McMahon had died and Alice Hannon McMahon married again. I believe that husband also died before Alice made the journey to Massachusetts.

Sadly, I don't know anymore about the family in Ireland. I'm hoping to match names with records and someday visit the place on the land where they lived.

I am grateful for any information.  I come to Ireland every summer. I'm a Special  Needs  teacher in Hawaii.

Your grandmother Johanna born in 1896, what was her father's name?  Her mother was Johanna Mc Mahon? We need to trace backwards.

I looked on ancestry for a johanna mc mahon born circa 1896 in Mass but could only find a mother Johanna Mc mahon married to a man called Bresnahan?   There is a johanna Mary Mc mahon born in 1892 with father James mc mahon but mother is Maggie.   

Would it be possible to email the general registrar for Mass and get a copy of your grandmother's birth certificate?  Only then will we know exactly her parentage?
