Did James Bermingham have a sister (Mary or another sister) that married the father of your great-grandfather James O'Brien? Do you know if Mary emigrated? If she was married in Ireland, likely the marriage would have occurred at St. Senan's.

Hi Dennis, I think i may possibly have a piece to your puzzle... if you havent found it already. I am trying to piece together the same Berminghams in my tree. Daniel Bermingham i believe had a sister Bridget (1822-1874) who married a James Cussen. They had a daughter Mary Cussen (1849-1905) who married a James O'Brien (1847-1888) he died in Jersey City.... does this fit? Jo

Thanks.  Bridget Bermingham, who married James Cussen were my 2x great grandparents.  Bridget's parents were Thomas Bermingham (1794-1876) and wife Johanna (ca 1795-1883).  They were from Ballyartney, Kilofin, Clare.  James and Bridget's daughter married James O'Brien (my great grandparents) in U.S. 

If my research is correct, Thomas's brother was Daniel Bermingham (ca 1810-1869) who married Mary Considine.  The parents of Daniel and Thomas were Thomas Bermingham and ? Cleary.  The family from the Ballyartney area.  Daniel appears to have moved to Ballykett where he married Mary.

I have six children born to Thomas Bermingham and ? Cleary: Thomas (1794-1876), Matthew (ca 1803-1878), Daniel (ca 1810-1869), Patrick, Catherine and Michael (ca 1836-1871)  There would appear, given the gaps to have been other children.  Without solid documentation it is difficult to confirm this but it was developed using bits of information.  Also, I know there are relationships given DNA matches.  Several point directly at Thomas Bermingham and ? Cleary and others suggest one more generation back.
