Delighted to find this group. I'd like to contact any person who might have access to early 1800s CHERRY family records of births, baptisms, schooling, marriages, emprisonment, deaths, etc. in St. John's Church in Cratloe.

I'm a descendent of the Cherry family in Cratloe. My ancestors lived in Woodcock Hill and in Ballyhoulihan/Ballyvoughallan. There was a Cherry family in Castlquarter who were related to my Cherry line. I've been researching the Cherrys in the Cratloe area for a number of years. Since they were Catholic there weren't many civil records prior to the mid 1860s.
When I was visiting Ireland several years back I viewed the microfilm for Cratloe Catholic Church and the nearby parish in Meelick. I was quite surprised at the number of Cherry familiies listed in the registers. The earliest dates wer in the 1820s.
Do you know where in the Cratloe area your family is from?

Hi! My ancestors were Jeremiah Quinn (1824-1891) and wife Mary Ryan (1842-1912.) My research indicates that they were married in Parteen, County Clare in 1867. Witnesses Maurice Ryan and Michael Cherry. This info comes from the Keane family.
