James Cussen is noted on Griffith's Valuation in Ballyartney. He married Bridget Bermingham. 28 Feb 1843. Marriage was witnessed by Thomas Bermingham and Betty Frawley. Thomas is believe to her brother. From the Catholic Church records for James and Bridget, I have located a son, Patrick Cussen; a daughter, Mary (my great grandmother), baptised 8 Apr 1849; a daughter Ellen, baptised 14 Jul 1858; and a son, Thomas, baptised 31 Jul 1860. There is large gap between Mary (1849) and Ellen (1858) and I have not found specific records for other children. However, I do know from research in the States that James and wife had a daughter Margaret (b. ca 1851) and Honora (b. ca 1853). Would be interested in knowing if anyone might information on this family, particluarly to help confirm these 2 daughters and any other children. Thanks. Dennis

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I did not find them either on the RC parish data base on Find My Past. ( I did find the records for the four children you listed). My only suggestion is to scan the parish register. Possibly the handwriting was illegible and the records were transcribed incorrectly.

I continue to look into the Cussen/Bermingham family connections. I have since my last post found new information that affirms the family makeup of James Cussen (Cushing) and Bridget Bermingham. James and Bridget had the following children: Patrick (1846-1927), Mary (1849-1905), Margaret (ca 1851-1896), Honora (ca 1853-1906), Susan (ca 1855-1906), Ellen (1858-1881) and Thomas (1860-1910). All these children, with the exception of Patrick moved to the U.S., particularly to Bayonne, NJ. Patrick acquired father James' property in Ballyartney. Patrick married a Bridget Kelly in Feb 1875 and they had at least 9 children. I have confirmed that one of Patrick's son, Thomas (1883-1954), removed to Chicago, IL. A daughter, Mary (b. 1882) married a Thomas Kenny on 25 Feb 1911 in Labasheeda. Another daughter, Bridget (1866-1961) married a Galvin and remained in County Clare.
It is also thought that Bridget Bermingham had a sister Mary, who married Michael McNamara, and a brother Thomas.
Again, hope to find someone who might have additional information on this family group. Also believe the Bermingham side of the family has a connection to those Bermingham families from Kilrush, possibly through Bridget Bermingham's father.
