Researching the family of Denis Kennedy and Margaret O'Hara. The obituary of one of their children states from O'Callahansmills, but I found a Denis Kennedy in the Tithe Applotment books in Loughborough nearby. They came to the US in the 1850ish timeframe. Dennis and Margaret possibly lived in Canada, per the death record of one of their children, but I've found no other record on either of them. Canada very possible since many of their children settled in Detroit - just over the river from Canada.
Known children follow:
Margaret (born about 1810ish) - married a Michael Stanners and is buried in Michigan as Margaret Stanners. Also found a Tulla Roman Catholic register index of her marrying a Thomas Minogue, son of Martin, in Feb 1864. She is listed as Stanners or Kennedy - odd? Not sure if Minogue died, or that marriage ever really took place., since she is buried as a Stanners, not a Minogue. Appeared to come to US later than her siblings (about 1880-1883 timeframe), apparently after she was widowed.
Mary - married Jeremiah Clune. Their children born in Ireland include Thomas, Ellen, Mary, Margaret and Michael who was born in O'Callahansmills in 1847. They came shortly after Michael born. Michael became a very well known priest in Syracuse, New York - where this family settled. Family lore has it that Jeremiah was promised to marry one of the other Kennedy girls, who ran off and married her sweetheart - so he was "given" Mary. They had a long and happy marriage.
James - Married Annie Ganes from Canada. Died in Michigan.
Bridget - married an unknown Murphy. Believe she may have come over widowed as well? Possibly had a son Michael. Buried in Michigan.
Anna (born about 1827). Married James Lyons who was from Ireland. Not sure if they married in Ireland or the US. They also lived in the Syracuse, NY area.
Thomas (born in the 1829-1832 timeframe). Who I am descended from. Married Sarah Donnelly, daughter of James Donnelly and Bridget Kelly (we believe from County Galway) in Detroit in 1860.
Have looked at lots of the online records on Clare Library site. Any local knowledge on any of these surnames in that general vicinity welcome!

Hi:
I just read your query this evening and I can tell you that Loughborough is just outside the village of O'Callaghan's Mills.
You have done a lot of family research and it is very detailed. I can take a look at the parish registers here if it is any good to you. I know a lady in the Mills area with a ton of local knowledge. I have se veral other queries for her and I will ask her about your family surnames.
The very best of luck with your research. I will get back to you in the next week or so.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Thanks Jane. I appreciate it. If there is someone you feel it would be helpful to contact, or you need additional contact information from me, let me know!
I'm not sure if there are church records on much of this because the dates may be too early. It is possible there may be some marriage or baptism records on the children of Margaret Kennedy and Michael Stanners. I know of one son, Thomas, born about 1858 in Ireland (from US records). I'm also curious if there is anything in the original record for her marriage Feb 1864 to Thomas Minogue in Tulla RC register since that confuses me a bit. There also might be baptisms or a marriage record for Bridget Kennedy and the unknown Murphy. I know of one possible son Michael.
The only evidence of an Irish record I have seen is the transcription on the Clare Library website for Michael Clune's birth in O'Callaghan Mills parish on 16 Aug 1847. If you think some of the neighboring Roman Catholic records are worth a look, too, (Tulla in particular) then by all means I would welcome your assistance! I would guess the mentioned births/marriages could have occured between 1830 and 1880. It is also possible there were other children of Denis and Margaret because the brith dates are spread out. Maybe some died or possibly not all came over......

Thank you for checking. I always appreciate any effort to help!!!!! MixedStock (who posted the information to findagrave) is a cousin I've worked closely with over the past decade in sharing our Kennedy knowledge to piece together the family history. She is also descended from Denis's son, Thomas, who married Sarah Donnelly (she through their daughter Margaret, and I through their son Thomas II - both first cousins of Michael Clune). We have lots of great infomation on Father Clune! Thomas II named one of his sons Clune Kennedy in honor of Father Clune. Clune Kennedy was my grandmother's brother.

My ancestor Margaret CLUNE married Timothy Byrnes in the RC Parish of Tulla, Diocese of Killaloe. Timothy and Margaret Byrnes had ten children. Thomas 1843, Denis sometime between 1843 and 1848, Michael 1849, Bridget 1853, Timothy and Mary Ann (twins) 1854, Bernard 1855 (my ggrandfather), James 1857, Patrick 1859 and Margaret Josephine 1861.
