Researching the Hedican/Hedigan family from County Clare.
Mary/Maria Hedican/Hedigan was born in 1847 possibly in Clauhaus/Clahane, County Clare. Ancestry has her mother as Mary McNamara age 22 and Martin Hedican age 18 when daughter Mary was born.
Have found a lot of Hedican/Hedigans and not sure if they are the same family or not. Advised that daughter Mary went to Australia when she was 12 or 13, but have been unable to find any record with her name on the shipping lists. Possibly went as a servant to a family and used their name.
A Martin Hedican was a widower when her married a Mary or Margaret McNamara on July 29th, 1865 in Kilrush.
Mary married John Phillip Harper when she was 21 in Victoria, Australia. On her marriage certificate her parents are stated as Michael and Margaret Hedican. On her death certificate her father is named as Martin Hedigan and her mother as Mary.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dear C:
The Hedigan surname is noted in Kilmacduane parish not only in Griffith's Valuation, but also in the 1901 Census. The catholic parish is Cooraclare and the online sources through the Clare Library are at this link which I would recommend that you check out: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilmacduane.htm
I will ask a local member from the Cooraclare area about this family and reply to you on this message thread if there is further information
All the best,
Jane

Jane,
Very much appreciated your email. I have been on the Clare County Website hundreds of times and have found several Martin Hedican's and Hedigan's. Found a marriage with an Ellen Keane on Feb. 26th, 1854 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Killmihil, Kilmacduane, also with a Mary Clancy on November 16th, 1861 and as mentioned in my first email Margaret/Mary McNamara on July 29th, 1865. I do not think they were the same Martin as he had numerous children with all the the ladies mentioned.
From my research the names Hedican and Hedigan do not appear to be very common so I assume they may be related.
Again, thank you for your response.
Stay safe.
