My grandfather Thomas was on the Clare hurling team in the 1910s(I have a picture of the team).
He was on the county Clare championship team of 1916 or 1917. I do not know any of his team mates
nor do I know the atmosphere of hurling games around the time of the Irish Revelution. I would love some feed back. His father was Patrick O'Donnell. He and his siblings lived in the township of Scarriff down
town where he Patrick operated a shop. There were (14) children and most of them emigrated to the U.S. The Long family and the Tinans have been mentioned over the years as relatives, but I don't
know the specifics. I thank you for your time and appreciate your knowledge.

Hi:
Many thanks for your message to Ireland Reaching Out.
Here is a link for you with regard to the Scariff Hurling Club. http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CC8Q…
The above has a lot of information about the history of the Club and the various teams who played over the years.
The Longs are still in Scariff and operate shops there. If you want to message me at tulla@irelandxo.com, I can pass on your query to one of them and they might be able to help you.
In the meantime, you can find out more information about the shop that your relatives owned by looking at the 1901 and the 1911 Census records. They are available through the National Archives and also through the Clare Library website. The Library website is extremely good with a lot of historical and genealogical information,. In addition, the parish records are online through that site for the parish of Scariff. Their website is www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/genealogy.
The very best of luck to you. I would also think that the photograph that you have may be of interest to the local GAA club and you will find a link to contact them through the first link that I gave you.
Kind regards,
Jane.
