My ggf William White 2nd child of Michael and Sarah had Corofin engraved on tombstone so we imagine he was born there but van find nothing. In 1851 Michael had died and Sarah and William and Jane came to Australia. Three years later the other children Catherine and Michael emigrated with we believe the Cusack family.
Particularly interested in any siblings Michael my gggf might have had. He was born abt 1810, married abt 1836 and died abt 1850 all in Clare somewhere.
Thanks.
Dominic White

Hi Dominic,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information contacts you and helps you to further your research.
Unfortunately, church records for Rath/Corofin Catholic parish do not begin until 1819 so if Michael was born there there will be no record of it parish records.
However, you may be able to find his marriage record or his children's birth records if they were baptised in the parish. Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance.

Alternatively you could try contacting Clare Genealogy Centre as they have copies available, however please note that a fee may apply. Here is their email: clareheritage@eircom.net
It may also be an idea to contact the Local Studies Department of Clare County Library. They have an excellent county collection available and may be able to advise you on what records may be available. Here is their webpage:

Also check what resources they have online here:

The ?Donated Materials? section on the right hand side can be quite useful.
You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
