Looking for any information on Michael Ryan my GG Grandfather he married a Nora Hicky.
1. Michael was shown leasing 2 roods 31 perches of land at Cappagh North, which is a small townland being the smallest rural division of a Parish of approx 190 acres situated in the Civil Parish of Kilfinaghta, north Cappagh was sited just over a mile south west of the Vllage of Sixmilebridge.
2. Michael (sen) and Michael (Jun) were shown holding/leasing land at Ballynevan and Ballycullen. Bally neavan is approx 355 acres situated in the Parish of Kilfinaghta, while Ballycullen is a townland of approx 315 acres in the Parish of Kifinaghta. These two lands are sited about 2 miles north east of Sixmilebridge.
3. In 1825 land records list a Michael Ryan leasing 3 acres of land at Ardkyle, this place is a twonland of over 260 acres in Parish of Feenagh it lies 2 miles south west of Sixmilebridge.
I have found the following children born to the marriage of Michael and Nora, Thomas b.1830 d.1900 (Australia) Daniel b.? Maria b.1836 Margaret b.1837 Michael b.1839.
Thomas ends up in Australia in 1856 with his wife Mary Ann (nee Connors) they have seven daughters and 1 son.
If anyone knows of these Ryan's please let me known I have hit a brick wall.
I have visited Sixmilebridge and the area's they would of farmed but no luck..
Cheers,
Fran

I am in the process of transcribing the baptism registers for Sixmilebridge parish [Registers are online at http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0812]. I have done 1829 to 1833 so far. I have found the following in relation to your family.
13 Oct 1830, baptism of Thomas Ryan, son of Michael Ryan & Honora Hicky. Sponsors were John & Mary McInerheny.
21 March 1833, baptism of Daniel Ryan, son of Michael Ryan & Honora Hicky. Sponsors were Patrick Maher & Anna Ryan
I have looked through the Sixmilebridge marriage registers for 1829 [the earliest available] & 1830 but did not find the
Ryan/Hicky marriage. They may have married pre 1829 or the bride may not have been from Sixmilebridge and the marriage took place in her parish.
Unfortunately, addresses are not shown in the registers, so it will be difficult to identify which Ryans are yours. I see you have been through the Tithe Applotment books of 1828 and identified Michael Ryans. You will see that the Ryans [in common with the majority of the population] do not have very much land and so live a precarious life. I have looked through Griffiths Valuation Books of c. 1848 [http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/] and found 3 Ryans in the Sixmilebridge area; George, Thomas & Margaret and 60 Michael Ryans in Clare, of which 6 are close to Sixmilebridge. So Michael is either dead and his eldest son Thomas has inherited the lease or Michael has moved or been moved by his landlord to another parish.Tracing your Ryans here is a very long shot but it is possible. The Great Famine started in 1845 here. Very many died and memories of families consequently disappeared.

The address looks like Ballycasey, Co.Clare. If so, Ballycasey is a townland about 5 miles west of Sixmilebridge, close to Shannon Airport.

Thomas is the son of Michael and Nora Ryan in the above message.
Mary Anne Connors/O'Connor marries Thomas Ryan of Sixmilebridge possiblly in 1856 Dublin, before sailing to Australia...
In Balleycasey can any one help me with finding out abt the Connors/O'Connors? There is not much left in Balleycasey as Airport is there now or someone may know more... Thanks, Fran
