I'm also looking for a Patrick Halloran who was from Tulla and was transported to Australia on the Rodney in 1852. He was convicted at Tulla on the 21st of June 1849 for stealing 2 cows from a Mr Broughan. He was 30 years of age at the time and his Convict Conduct record records him as a widower with 3 children.
By the time he arrives in Hobart his Convict Indent records that all three of his children had died and that he had 4 sisters, Judy, Peggy, Mary and Nancy On the next line is written in America so its unclear if that refers to all 4 or just Nancy. Patrick married a girl from Loughrea Galway in Tasmania Bridget Martin and his family has many descendants (even enough to field their own football team!) and became a well publicized pioneering family of north western Tasmania.
Any assistance tracing Patrick would be appreciated Peter

Hi Peter
www.rootsireland.ie/ a subscription site has 6 Patrick Halloran baptism records from 1819 + - 1 year in Clare
However the records are from only 7 parishes: Cratloe, Crusheen, Ennis, Feackle, Mountshannon & Whitegate, Parteen & Scarriff. All are R C.
There are no Tulla records but it is not known if he was born there or was living there when convicted.
A closer look at the 6 baptism records shows that there are really only 3 each of which is listed twice:

Thanks very much for your help with this Col
I've noted that Roots Ireland has lots of BDMs for places like Cratloe but very little for Tulla in 1800-1840.
Is this because these events were registered in Ennis or Cratloe or is it because birth/baptism records dont survive (or exist) for the Roman Catholic Church during this period in Tulla.
I would presume many of the names Patrick would have used for his sons would have reflected his family/ancestors? In this case his father would likely be Patrick, Thomas, John or Michael in that order given Pats sons in Tasmania. Once again Col thanks for your assistance;
Peter
