My John Halloran was probably born John O'Halloran in Moymore, most likely in 1820. According to Clare Heritage Centre he married Brigid McGrath of Lissofin in Tulla on 7 February 1837 and they had 10 children. Our family folk lore says John came to Castlemaine, Australia in 1860, BUT I have been unable to trace this down. Brigid came in 1865 [when she refers to herself as "widow"] as far as I can make out, but I can find no trace of John.
Can anyone help me please with information on [1] when John Halloran came to Australia, [2] how he came [what ship] if he came, and [3] when and where he died.

Hi Laurie
There are 10 baptism records of John Halloran 1820 + - 3 years in Clare on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription required).
Moymore is not in the list of parishes but all 10 are from CRATLOE RC Parish http://clare.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=0&prevStartQuery=0
If you search Index to Unassisted Passengers to Victoria you'll find 18 John Hallorans including 1 arriving 1860 aged 40 on the Lightning

Victoria BDM has some John Halloran death records which requires a small payment to view https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSea…
