Hi Scott,
I believe that all the early Desertserges Swantons were children of John Swanton and Johanna (Joan) Brien. The earliest Swanton baptismal record is for Cate Swanton, daughter of John Swanton and Johanna Brien, in 1817, so she is the only child for whom there is a record.

The Death of an Old Resident
The death of Mrs. Ann Dooling on Saturday, as the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Dooling, on Upper Welden street, removed from our midst another of our old-time residents. For half a century she had watched the changes which time has wrought in St. Albans, had seen the small hamlet grow to a prosperous village, had seen the tanneries, which at one time were our main industry, fade away until the memory of them is as but a dream in the minds of our oldest inhabitants.
She saw the stove supersede the fireplace and witnessed the introduction of the many inventions which the ingenuity of man hath devised to improve our condition and make our life journey easier. What wonderful changes have taken place in St. Albans and in our mode of living since she came here a comely matron fifty-six years ago, what a vast difference in the journey from Montreal today—a few hours in a luxurious railroad coach, and then—a wearisome walk, by the hardy band of pioneers of which her family were numbered, through forests that have long since yielded to the woodsman’s axe.
Since taking up her residence in St. Albans she had never left it, and although she had lived within sight of the railroad since the first locomotive whistle echoed from our hills she could not be induced to take a ride on the cars. She lived a long, useful Christian life, and died surrounded by every comfort which loving care could bestow. The funeral from St. Mary’s church this morning was largely attended, showing the high esteem in which she was held in the community. The bearers on this occasion were Matthew Lawlor, Thomas Keenan, Martin Laffey and Daniel Sullivan.
