Many of my wifes Cahalane ancestors/relations are buried in the old graveyard at Kilmacabea. On a recent visit I was struck by the small number of inscribed headstones and this prompted the question whether anybody has compiled a list of known graves/plots and the associated family names for this ancient graveyard? On a similar visit to an old famine graveyard in Bridgetown, Co Clare I was impressed by the initiative of the local parish to compile a 'register' and a plan of the graves/plots for the graveyard to indicate the known graves and using the memories of the older locals to compile a list of names etc for people known or believed to be buried there.
